Masking, Stenciling and Image Transfer Techniques for Acrylic Painting:

Artist and Eastern Michigan University professor Chris Hyndman will demonstrate a range of masking, stenciling and image transfer techniques suitable for acrylic painting.  Chris will discuss specialty tapes, masking films and acrylic mediums, as well as offer tips for working on a variety of surfaces.

Chris Hyndman earned an MFA in painting from Ohio University and a BA in studio art and mathematics from the University of Guelph (Canada).  Chris’ painting work is process and surface motivated and currently focuses on digital simulations of tartan-patterned fabric.

His work has been included in exhibitions in Dallas, Kansas City, Chicago, Detroit, Barcelona and Istanbul.  Chris maintains his studio in Chicago, where he spends much of his time when he is not teaching.  He has been working at EMU since 2001.
