The exhibit features solo and collaborative work by Michigan-based artist Lisa Steichmann and Los Angeles writer/photographer Josh Steichmann. Their collaborative work grew out of a text by Josh, How to Tread Water, set to images by Lisa. Lisa's other work for this show is both new and a retrospective of her fragmentary landscapes from the U.S. and Italy and in digital and traditional-process prints. Josh's work for the show features his vision of the landscape of Southern California, which reflect the alienation and anomie of the everyday in SoCal. Opening reception Saturday, February 6, 5:00-7:00 PM. February 13, 20 & 26: Art Adventures at Riverside Off Center. Make art and have fun in a safe, hands-on learning environment.Three different three-week sessions are available, with classes geared to grades kindergarden through six. March 4-27: "Build to Suit:" An Assemblage Art Exhbit. These eight artists--Barbara Melnik Carson, Paula Doe, Cre Fuller, Karen Gallup, Alvey Jones, Joan Painter Jones, Julie Renfro and Mike Sivak--see how to give new life to the old and cast-off. Opening reception March 6, 5:00-7:00 PM. Be sure to check the Calendar of Events for upcoming exhibits. Need for volunteer Gallery Docents
The gallery is fortunate to have a group of dedicated docents who "gallery sit" during exhibitions, but is always in need of more volunteers. If you can assist--either regularly or just occasionally--please leave a message at 480-2787 or write to RACgallery@yahoo.com for more information.
