Ashanti Johnson is a junior at Eastern Michigan University studying fine art with a concentration in graphic design currently living in Ypsilanti, MI.
Ashanti likes to work in many different mediums including acrylic, watercolor, pastel and charcoal. She is finding her art to be more interesting by working with a huge variety of subject matters.
This is Ashanti’s very first time exhibiting in a gallery. She is currently seeking an internship in the art field and working on her undergraduate portfolio. After graduation Ashanti plans to pursue her masters in fine arts and one day to become an art director.
Currently living in Ann Arbor, MI, Georgette Jones has been painting professionally for over twenty years. Working primarily in acrylics on canvas, her sub-themes include the spiritual aspect of relationships, wellness, love, nature, peace, prayer and personal growth. These subjects are included in her calligraphy, poetry, collage and writing, as well as her paintings.
Georgette’s work has been featured in magazines, newspapers, television and radio. Her awards include Spirit of Detroit, Seagram’s Gin and 100 Most Influential Detroit Women, to name a few. Her work is in the collections of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African-American History in Detroit, and the Birmingham A&M University in Alabama.
Her work has shown locally at Dell Pryor Gallery in Detroit, The Scarab Club, the NCA Gallery and the Nancy A. Fox Gallery in Novi. Georgette’s artwork is also part of private collections in Michigan and nationally. Current affiliations include Ann Arbor Women Artists and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
