Meet two artists in the “Comics, Cartoons and Caricatures” Exhibit
Both Mike and Mike were Michigan born and raised. So we claim them as Michiganders for this all Michigan artist exhibit. They both live in California now where they continue their comic artists careers.
Mike Pascale: We have a variety of Mike’s work in the gallery this month, including his process pieces from beginning sketches to the finish comic book cover of “Tales of Sequential Mayhem.”
Mike does Freelance work: (storyboarding, writing, character design, copywriting, art/illustration, ad campaigns, comic strips/books, lyrics/songwriting, SEO copy, Web copy, blogs and more) for agencies and clients anywhere. He has served as senior art director & copywriter for several Detroit-area ad agencies.
His artwork has been displayed in galleries in CA, NYC, MI and Spain. Mike has created and published characters and comic books for Bru-Hed™ and Nasti: Monster Hunter™. (We have copies of Bur-Hed in the gallery this month.
Mike does a weekly online comic strip called Game Buzz about the Seattle Seahawks.
Mike Vozburg: As a teenager Mike edited and produced the fanzine Masquerader, which introduced him to many of his cohorts in the comic book world and helped jump start his career.
He worked for Marvel and DC for a number of years until moving to LA in the mid 80’s where he branched out into the fields of animation, advertising and film.
He has produced artwork for the LA Museum of Tolerance, has drawn the entire run of cover inserts for the HBO Tales from the Crypt series and won an Emmy as a director on the HBO animated series Spawn.
Mike has worked on numbers of advertising projects and he has done storyboards for a several music videos for folks like Emimem, Marilyn Manson and Gwen Stefani.
Most recently Mike has storyboarded the movies The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawntreader and Journey to the Center of the Earth. For this exhibit we have a storyboard panel from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
He lives in California with his favorite model, Repo the Cat. His beautiful wife Anna who is a jewelry designer. They share studio space where he quietly listens to Mozart and she pounds away with her hammer and revs up her power tools.
