Amy Lockard:  Camera Setting 101

This class will focus on “the basics” of photography and how to better understand how to use your camera settings to get the most out of your photos.  We will discuss aperture, shutter speed, iso, what they are and how to manipulate them using your camera to adjust to different lighting situations to get the best images possible.  This class is geared toward the beginner or novice photographer.

Wendy Wernet:  Night Photography

You will learn the best time of night and the best time of month to shoot the stars.  Also, how to frame your picture in camera, what settings to use and what equipment you’ll need.

Marcia Fowler:  Infrared Photography

Digital technology has now made it possible to capture infrared (IR) photographs in the field with no special equipment fancier than a camera converted to IR light.  We will discuss camera conversions, issues with focus and exposure, and the kinds of subjects for which IR photography is particularity suited.  Online resources for camera conversions and in-depth tutorials, as well as a bibliography for further reading will be provided.

Sylvia Ford:  Printing, Matting and Framing

We will discuss the proper presentation for entering art shows and gallery calls.  There will also be discussion about proper choices for print paper, matting and framing ideas.

Linda Sorensen:  Starting a Small Photogrphy Business

Learn what the basic requirements are to create and launch your own small photography business in Michigan.  Choosing a name and business structure, the importance of a business plan, insurance and bookkeeping options, tax obligations and simple marketing strategies will be discussed.  A resource guide will be provided.

Seating will be limited to 25.  If you are interested in these presentations, get your name added to the list.  Classes are free.
