Join us on Saturday June 7th, for a Community Dance and Art Day @Riverside Arts Center’s Dance Studio. 5-9 pm, free donations accepted. Suggested donation $5 per person.

This event offers community and personal development and a warm space of joy and solidarity. Guests have the opportunity for new experiences in dance and yoga, socializing and networking, and to enjoy live poetry, and music. Everyone will be invited to learn a dance that travels around the world, the “Global Water Dance.” The resource fair will include visual art demonstrations with painters Shalonda Jemison and Em Bush, and time to talk with leaders of various community groups. Also there’s an opportunity to enjoy dance music, and other performances, try out a yoga class, and enjoy all the good vibes.

Ticket Cost:

Free but donations will be accepted. Suggested donation is $5-$10 per person.

About Maple Street Studios:

What’s Our Story

Founded in 2018, Maple Street Studios is a home-based fitness, dance and creative arts space. The studio currently has partner relationships with Eastwest Somatics Institute, Riverside Arts Center, and Women’s Caucus for the Arts Michigan, and other groups. Christina, the studio owner and founder, has worked for over 20 years in dance and art education, and completed her yoga certification in 2014. The studio has 10 stairs but partners with Riverside Arts Center, Ypsilanti District Library and other venues that are fully accessible. We are currently seeking a few more private students, and non-profits who want to create warm spaces of joy, resilience and solidarity. Yes, we provide custom dances for your wedding, commitment ceremony, graduation, retirement, shower, birthday or special events. All programs open and affirming; LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Adaptive Arts welcome. Christina has taught hundreds of students in Baltimore, Maryland, New York State and City, and Europe and the Caribbean, and for the NDEO, ACDFA, ISMETA and other cool groups and professional companies. She once tap danced on the Waldorf-Astoria and off-Broadway stages and earned some lettuce. Favorite Venues include The Dome Theatre Leeds, UK, a converted horse barn in Tuscany, and the Kennedy Center stage. True Stories.
