Humble Boy is set in an English garden full of flowers and the necessary beehive. Felix Humble (Eric Bloch) has returned to his childhood home following the sudden death of his father, who was an avid bee-keeper. Although Felix is a brilliant Cambridge astrophysicist working to find a unified field theory, he is anxious and bumbling in his personal life. He finds it difficult to deal with his demanding and self-centered mother, Flora (Amy Griffith); and, it doesn’t help his grieving process that Flora is being wooed by an oafish neighbor (Rich Roselle). Felix, surrounded by nature and steeped in astrophysics, realizes that his search for “Humble’s unified theory of everything” must include his own chaotic home life. This is a play about reconciliation and quiet joy, explored through comedy.
Directed by Laura Bird and featuring: Eric Bloch, Liz Greaves-Hoxsie, Amy Griffith, Mary Hopper, Rich Roselle and Orion Silvertree.
