About
Join Terpsichore Collective for: In Trust, Terpsichore Collective’s Autumn Concert, featuring contemporary dance works by Artistic Director, Aimee McDonald, company members, Rowan Janusiak and Mackenzie Kalinowski, and guest artist, Claire Bechard. Aimee McDonald presents three works. Camille in Auguste explores the work and relationship of Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin and the dynamics of age, gender, and reputation that shaped the trajectory of both their lives and careers. For this work Chien-An Yuan created an original sound score. Bathysphere is a new fairy tale, with original music by Gerald Siclovan, that imagines the deep sea explorers of the Bathysphere diving apparatus, on their first dive in 1930, discovering a mysterious Sea Ghost, and how this encounter reminds the Sea Ghost of her humanity and leaves her unsure of where she belongs, in the world of humans, or deep in the sea with the fish she has come to know. A third work, also entitled In Trust, explores ideas of trust within relationships and within society. Rowan Janusiak presents “place is a container: reflecting my sandpaper skin”, inspired by images of construction, demolition, and how we relate to places we may have lost. Mackenzie Kalinowski presents Involuntary, which looks at struggles with mental health, and Claire Bechard performs her solo Chorus, creating the sense of a duet in her use of a simple child’s toy.
Tickets: $22 (children $15)

BIO
Terpsichore Collective presents professional contemporary dance works for stage, site specific, multimedia, and film projects. It is a re-imagination of Artistic Director, Aimee McDonald’s previous projects, Terpsichore’s Kitchen, and Terpsichore’s Kitchen Dance Theatre, which produced the annual choreographers’ showcase Dancing in Summer, from 1998-2009, as well as regular choreographic showings and touring works.
In this new incarnation of Terpsichore we operate on a performance cycle, rather than a traditional season, with an autumn stage performance of works by Aimee McDonald alongside a couple of works by guest artists or other company members, and Dancing in Summer, The Festival, a summer dance festival with professional showcases of works by choreographers from Michigan, and across the nation. Throughout the year are our site specific, multimedia, and film projects.
