Don’t miss “La Vie en Rose,” a jazz ballet which follows the story of a small-town waitress who leaves everything behind to pursue her dreams of dancing professionally in New York City, facing trials and triumphs along the way. Starring University of Michigan dancers, the show features a live band playing jazz hits and new compositions by Mattie Levy. La Vie en Rose is presented through Arts Initiative and is in collaboration with Ballet & Books and the Prison Creative Arts Project, whose art will be on display during the performance weekend!

Kara Roseborough is a multi-disciplinary artist specializing in dance, creative writing, and theatre. She holds an MFA in Dance and a Certificate in World Performance Studies from the University of Michigan as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Utah and teaching certifications Cecchetti Grades I-V. Currently, she is a Creative Careers Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Michigan. From 2018 to 2022, Kara worked for with the Evanston Dance Ensemble, serving as the Artistic Director for the 2021/2022 season. She has performed with dance companies and theatres such as Charleston City Ballet, The Ruth Page Civic Ballet of Chicago, South Chicago Dance Theatre, New Dances, Pittsburgh Public Theatre and Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre. Her choreography has been presented across the United States and internationally, including with the Detroit Dance City Festival and the Dutch National Ballet.
