Our 25th anniversary year season continues with Morning’s at Seven by Paul Osborn – a comedy about four aging sisters and their domestic and existential crises. It premiered on Broadway in 1939 and was successfully revived several times, most recently to great acclaim in 2002. Join us for a comedic exploration of family ties!
The Gibbs sisters are close-knit. Cora and Ida have lived next door to each other in a small mid-western town for years. Their youngest sister, Arry, has lived with Cora and her husband, Thor, since Arry was a teenager. Arry is very fond of Thor. Ida’s husband, Carl, has “spells” and Homer (their son, aged 40) is not married. Esther lives a few blocks away but is forbidden by David, her husband, to visit. Tensions surface as Cora plans a new life alone with Thor and Arry tries to hang on to him; Esther struggles with David’s intimidation, and Ida worries about Carl’s spells. The crisis comes when Homer brings his fiancée of eight years home to meet the family.
