Boro-Style Sashiko Mending: Slow Stitch, Big Impact

Fibers @ Riverside

Give your worn, loved garments a second life in this 3-hour Boro-style sashiko mending workshop. We’ll explore the Japanese traditions of visible mending, using layered fabric patches and simple running stitches to create textured, one-of-a-kind repairs that are as beautiful as they are functional.

You’ll learn basic sashiko stitches, tools and how to mark your designs, layering and placing patches in the Boro style and tips for reinforcing thin spots, holes, and frayed areas

Perfect for beginners and experienced stitchers alike. Bring a denim jacket, jeans, shirt, or other woven garment (non-stretchy is ideal)  in need of repair—plus any favorite fabric scraps if you have them. We’ll provide thread, needles, and patch materials so you can slow down, stitch, and leave with a uniquely mended piece.
