Camp Director – Art Explorers! Summer Camps 2025
Position Overview:
The Camp Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the summer camp program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and educational experience for campers aged 7-11. This role includes pre-camp preparation, staff supervision, lesson planning, and daily operational support. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and passionate about working with children and fostering a positive, inclusive environment. Campers have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the arts with a focus on an education-based curriculum.

The Paid Internship Program at Riverside Arts Center is designed to support individuals passionate about arts, culture, and community development. Prospective interns can choose from one of the following areas: Gallery Intern, Marketing Intern, Summer Camp Intern, Fundraising and Development Intern, Community Engagement and Outreach Intern, and You Are Expansive Program Intern. Applicants may also submit their own project proposal aligned with Riverside Arts Center’s mission. Detailed descriptions of each intern project are provided below.
Our mission: The Riverside Arts Center offers, promotes, and nurtures dynamic arts and cultural programs through arts education, performing arts, visual and fine arts activities that serve and engage the community in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, and the surrounding area.
Requirements:
Students eligible for the internship must be in their junior or senior year of an undergraduate program in arts or social work, enrolled in a field of study relevant to the proposed project, or part of a post-graduate program. This program requires interns to work a minimum of 200 hours which can be completed during a single semester or over the course of two consecutive semesters.
Timeline:
Applications Due: March 31, 2025 (Summer) or July 16, 2025 (Fall)
Summer 2025 Start and End Dates: May 15 – August 15
Fall 2025 Start and End Dates: August 25 – December 14
Start and end dates are flexible and do not have to align with the school calendar.
Internship projects must be completed by December 15, 2025.
Selection Process:
The selection process will be based on several criteria including: Project Relevance to Organizational Goals, Feasibility and Clarity of Project Plan, Potential Impact and Innovation, Intern’s Skills and Expertise, Sustainability, and Long-term Value. By using a point system to assess each category, we ensure an equitable analysis of the proposed project. Priority will be given to highly successful projects and BIPOC students.
We are accepting a total of five paid interns for the 2025 calendar year. Accepted interns will receive a $1000 stipend for their work. This internship is generously funded by the Ypsilanti Area Community Foundation.

Become A Teaching Artist
Riverside Arts Center’s Workshops and Classes Program provides engaging and high-quality arts instruction for our creative community. Our workshops and classes are designed to be accessible to a wide range of experience levels — from beginners to professional artists looking to expand their skill set.
This program is ever-growing, and we are always accepting proposals from teaching artists for new classes. Be sure to check out our Workshops and Classes page to see what we’re currently offering and gauge if your class would be a great addition to our lineup!
Details:
If you are interested in teaching at Riverside Arts Center as part of our Workshops and Classes program, please fill out the form below. The form is designed to gather important information about you and your proposed workshop or class. It helps us evaluate your qualifications, the content of your proposal, and how it aligns with our mission. Please ensure all required fields are completed and attach any necessary supporting documents.
Applications are evaluated quarterly by our staff and RAC’s Program Committee. You will be notified within two weeks of submission whether or not your proposal is being considered. Further details about the timeline of the workshop or class will be addressed at that time.
Please note that all teaching artists are hired independent contractors and are not considered employees of Riverside Arts Center.
