Auditions for “Benestopheles!: The Last Days of Ghoulita Graves”

Neighborhood Theatre Group is holding auditions for the staged reading of our newest musical, “Benestoheles!: The Last Days of Ghoulita Graves” by Greg Pizzino and Tom Hett, directed by Craig VanKempen
Saturday, January 25 from 12:00-3:00pm
Sunday, January 26 from 7:00-10:00pm
Auditions will be held at Riverside Arts Center (76 N. Huron St., Ypsilanti).
Please prepare 32 bars of a song that best shows off your voice. Accompanist will be provided. Sides will be provided for cold readings from the script.
To reserve an audition slot, please email info@ntgypsi.org with your preferred date and time. Walk-ins will be seen but those with an audition time will be seen first.
Performance dates are April 3-4 at 8pm The Back Office Studio (13 N. Washington St., Ypsilanti)
The first read-thru will be Wednesday, March 4 at 7pm. Rehearsals begin March 12 and are Mon & Thurs evenings and Sat afternoons. All rehearsals will be in Ypsilanti.

Synopsis:
Benny is an apprentice demon with one night to earn his horns. Ghoulita Graves is a late night horror host with a best friend who’s secretly in love with her, a rogue TV crew that’s taken over the studio, and one night to save her show from being canceled to make way for “The Reverend Jimmy’s Prayer Time Power Hour”. All hell breaks loose when their worlds collide in a romantic comedy of supernatural proportions!
Character Breakdown:
Gina Gallo/Ghoulita Graves (female 20’s-30’s): Weather girl by day, host of late night horror show Ghoulita Graves Presents by night. Regards Gina as her mask and Ghoulita as an outlet for her real self.
“Benny” Benestopheles (male 20’s): An apprentice demon on the verge of earning his horns.
Sydney Smith (female 20’s-30’s): Stage manager on Ghoulita Graves Presents. Secretly in love with Gina.
Oscar (male 30’s-40’s): Benny’s cigar chomping uncle. A Jimmy Durante type. Swing role.
Kent Conroy (male 30’s): Womanizing sportscaster on W.H.U.R. news.
Reverend Jimmy (male 20’s-40’s): Part rhinestone Elvis, part Kid Rock, part tent revival preacher. Host of Reverend Jimmy’s Prayer Time Power Hour. All of Jimmy’s numbers are in rap-rock style. Swing role.
Chuck (male 40’s-50’s): Cameraman and horror aficionado.
Shelly (female late teens-20’s): Intern on Ghoulita Graves Presents. Self proclaimed “weirdo’s weirdo.”
Will (male late teens-20’s): Intern on Ghoulita Graves Presents. Secretly wants to be a kid’s show puppeteer. Swing role.
Phoebe (female 20’s-30’s): A demoness and perpetual mean girl.
Eris (female 20’s-30’s): A demoness and partner to Phoebe.
