Call for Art: Solstitium: The Sun Stands Still

Overview:

Twice annually, we encounter the solstice: once during winter and again in summer. This celestial event marks both the shortest and longest days of the year, when the sun reaches its utmost tilt away from or toward the earth.
Throughout history, humans have revered the solstice for its astronomical importance, marking seasonal transitions and holding spiritual significance in many faiths.

The theme of this exhibition is art that honors the Winter Solstice, symbolizing the turning point when days cease to shorten and begin to get longer—a moment often interpreted as a metaphorical rebirth and new beginnings. Artists are invited to interpret these themes in their own styles and mediums.

Submission Guidelines:

Eligibility: 

This call is open to artists of all ages working in various mediums and disciplines. All submissions must align with the theme and guidelines outlined. 
All submissions must be original works or part of a limited series.

Submission Requirements:

  • Fill out the submission form in its entirety.

  • Provide a detailed description of the artwork, including materials used and price if for sale (or value if the work is NFS, not for sale).

  • Upload images of submitted works.

  • Submission Deadline: November 1, 2024

Artwork Limit: Up to 3 works, special consideration will be given to series

Selection Process:

A panel of jurors will review all submissions.
Based on the volume and quality of submissions, the jurors may choose to include multiple works from individual artists.
